Joey & Kia

#168 and #169
Recently, CCK heard about #168 and #169, two breeding Corgis that would be put up for auction at a breeder’s auction. The word was put out that we would bid on these Corgis to rescue them from a life of breeding and donations were collected specifically to purchase these Corgis. CCK purchased #168 and #169 for $2,700. They were immediately "fixed" and given veterinary care.

Now known as Joey (left) and Kia (below right), they are somewhat social, but still timid and are in foster care learning their manners to enjoy indoor living. Kia and Joey will then move on to their forever homes to enjoy life as beloved family members instead of breeding machines with numbers.
Thank you to all our friends who donated specifically for this cause.

Kia will be 3 years old in June. She is a total love-bug and enjoys just watching things while sitting on your lap. However, she also enjoys a good chase with her friend, Joey.

Joey is the more timid of the 2 but continues to improve. He just recently mastered the 4 or 5 rather steep steps leading in and out to the backyard at his foster home. He is a silly boy too who loves to take off zooming, either being chase or to chase or sometimes just to zoom! Joey turned 2 in November.

Both are crate-trained but still working on house-training. They enjoy multiple walks a day and are doing well on their leashes in addition to play time in a fenced yard. We would not recommend them to a home with young children however as it may be too stressful for them.

Ideally, CCK would like to have Joey and Kia adopted together but we realize that is a big undertaking as both of the dogs will need "continuing education" on things such as house-training and basic obedience. Their adoption fee is $275 each. They are both up to date on vaccinations, have been heart-worm tested (-); on preventative and are micro-chipped. Joey is being treated for a mild case of kennel cough which he must of contracted while at auction but we expect him to be symptom free and non-contagious in about 3 weeks.
